How to make a Kandil (Diwali lantern)

Hi folks...! Now I came with another Idea in recycling Ideas!

kandil...the lantern which is one of the seasonal attachment in almost all house holds in western India while the Diwali celebration is on.
Basically this structure is consists of mainly Cloth,Paper &and bamboo as main ingredients.
Here we are not at all using these ingredients...

in place of all we are going to use a PET bottle ...yes a water or cool drink pet bottle BIG...and colours either acrylic or Glass colours for the final decor.

Here how it can be...

Here you are saving Paper...and wood..and also taking a waste plastic bottle in to usage....

Eco friendly Ganapathy

Why we need Eco friendly Ganapathy

Ganesh...he is the one who clear the hassles in our lives...
but we are making the things critical and creating environment hassles  by making Vighnaraj  in  unhealthy ways...

As per the Shashtras the puja should offer to either gold, silver or Clay idols.
But as the technology intervenes in between , POP and other elements taken place instead of Clay and other natural ingredients.

The main culprits:

POP:Is a Gypsum  product contains sulfur, phosphorous and magnesium and when dissolves water causes threat to aquatic life.

Thermacol :this element also just like plastic;it does not decompose.

Paints:the paints using to glow the idols mostly contains Lead and other toxics which will pollute water streams.

Plastic ornaments/others: Plastic is a material which can not get destroy easily in days or months it takes hundreds of years to dis integrate.

What are the alternate..?

Clay Idols: the best option against POP idols..and easily dissolve in water in hours time.Or can avail eco friendly idols made of paper and clay.

paper or natural sources like fresh flowers,Mango leaves for decoration:Can easily replace thermo col and plastic ornaments.

paints : can use natural colours which are widely available in market.which contain no toxics

Be a responsible...eco devotee...so that this year and all future years Ganesha can complete his visit in a healthy and green way....

Wall hangings...

This wall hanging is made of water bottle.

Material/accessories required:
  • an empty bottle
  • marker
  • Scissors
  • glass colours of your choice

PET bottles Usage

Shatabdi express - which covers Mumbai to Ahmadabad in 7 hours....here I am not talking about the speed of the train....
the train caters nearly 2000 water bottles a day (to and fro) means nearly 60,000 plastic bottles in a month...
If we think about the other trains and stations consumption ....then in a day it self we are consuming a big mountain of plastic...

the fact is empty plastic bottles life span is more than 500 years....
keep it this in mind ...avoid plastic in your daily use...
